This is a picture of the 3 bins Credit goes to Asha with picture

Has your house got three bins? Do you know what they are for? Well if you do then you are helping the environment bit by bit! If you don’t know than this post will tell you how to use them and what to put in them so you never put a wrong thing in the wrong bin again! (hopefully..)

The red bin is for general waste, this is the bin you want to put the least amount of rubbish in because every piece of rubbish that goes in the red bin goes to landfill. Here are some things you should put in the red bin.

  • Plastic and metal containers
  • Disposable coffee cups
  • Chip packets
  • Plastic bags
  • Tissues
  • Paper towels

The yellow bin is for recycling, this is the bin that you want to put a lot of stuff in because it all gets recycled and that is good because none of it has to go to landfill! Here are some things that can be put in the yellow bin.

  • Aluminium cans
  • Glass bottles
  • Cardboard
  • Egg cartons
  • Envelopes
  • Magazines

The green bin is for garden organics, this bin you want to put a lot in as well because everything that goes in here gets broken down and then it gets created into soil for our gardens and farms! Here are some things that can be put in the green bin.

  • Fruit and vegetable scraps
  • Ashes (cold)
  • Leaves
  • Weeds
  • Soil (small amounts only)
  • Grass clippings

These are some things you can put in the 3 bins and how to use them!
